Home-made textile artworks inspired by Chicano prison tradition – the art of paño (handkerchief in Spanish) – that still continues in the southwestern United States. The support was originally used for sending drawings to loved ones like a postcard, expressing emotions or testimony. In the Kukeri series, the fabric transports images, evidence of identity and cultural heritage.
